While the number of registered new infections has again decreased, the number of deaths reported in connection with the coronavirus in Italy remains at a consistently high level. In the past 24 hours, the number of deaths from or with the virus was 827, five more than the previous day, the Ministry of Health announced this evening.
The number of registered new infections fell from 29,003 to 28,352. 222,803 tests were carried out within 24 hours, 12.7 percent of which were positive. The number of SARS-CoV-2 infected patients in quarantine dropped from 757,961 to 750,47. Those treated in hospitals for Covid-19 decreased for the fourth consecutive day from 34,038 to 33,684, the Ministry of Health reported. There were 3,782 patients in intensive care units in the country, 64 fewer than the previous day.
